Shemaroo Ent plans to expand its Digital Content Library

Shemaroo Entertainment Private Limited, one of the pioneers and an active player in New Media segment, is aggressively expanding its library. The company has acquired digital rights from labels and content owners across the country. Shemaroo has built a very strong library and aims to monetize the same on digital platforms.

Looking at the popularity of regional content in B and C towns and in rural India, the company has scaled up its activities in the direction. It has tied up with more than 100 labels to add regional content. Shemaroo now has digital content, both audio and video, across more than 20 languages including Gujarati, Marathi, Punjabi, Rajasthani, Bengali, Telugu, Tamil, Himachali, Garhwali, Haryanvi, Nepali and many more. Consumers can now enjoy folk songs, devotional songs, Gazals, romantic songs and a range of other local flavoured content in their own languages. 

On the occasion, Jai Maroo, Director, Shemaroo Entertainment Private Limited said “Our recent acquisitions will not only add to our library but will help us cater to a wider range of customers. We are working to elevate the experience of entertainment consumption through digital media by adding new content and constant innovation. We are looking forward to position Shemaroo as a one stop shop for aggregation and management of Indian content be it Bollywood or much more beyond that.” 

Pegging digitally delivered entertainment as the biggest growth area for the industry, Mr Jai Maroo said that their tie-ups with labels like Fountain Music, Navrang, SS Communications, Veena Music, Kavithalayaa Productions, Video World, and Simran Music Industries to name a few is a step to move ahead in the direction. With these deals Shemaroo gets a huge content base from traditional to contemporary content of various genres like Devotional music, Folk, Pop, Romantic, Classical, Ghazals, Children Songs, Qawwali, Sufi, Ravindra Sangeet, etc. The acquired content will be monetized across digital platforms like Mobile, Internet and IPTV among others.
