TUV Rheinland announces expansion in India with 100-cr investment

Bangalore based TUV Rheinland India, a worldwide leader in Testing, Inspection, Certification & Training, has announced that it would be substantially expanding its capabilities in India to meet the growing market demand & provide services as a one stop shop. The expansion would be primarily in the areas of EMC/wireless testing, photovoltaic module testing, product testing & food/microbiological testing.

As an independent third party, TÜV Rheinland tests, monitors & certifies products, installations, processes, management systems & services based on statutory requirements, relevant performance indicators & standards. The company itself is actively involved in developing those standards.

In the area of Electro Magnetic Compatibility (EMC) & wireless testing, the company would be adding a 10 meters anechoic chamber in addition to its existing electrical & Electro Magnetic Compatibility (EMC) labs in Bangalore. The 10 meters anechoic chamber enables the company to test any electronics/wireless products for their radiations in the range 9 KHz to 40GHz according various national/international standards such as CISPR, FCC, ETSI etc. In the area of photovoltaic module testing, the company has already set up its photovoltaic module testing laboratory, which is operational. This is the largest in South Asia & first of its kind in India. In the area of food/microbiological testing, the company would be setting up a new testing laboratory which would be functional by June 2011.

Announcing the expansion plans, Enrico Ruhle, Managing Director, TUV Rheinland India said “We have been serving the India market for the last 15 years & our services & certifications have gained wide acceptance in the industry. To meet growing demands, we are now expanding our services in India with an investment of Rs. 100 crores in the next 3 years with a similar amount already invested in the last 3 years”.
