1,445 cases of ragging redressed by UGC

UGC received 1,545 complaints of ragging in the last three years and it redressed 1,445 cases, the government today said.
In a written reply to a question in Lok Sabha, HRD minister Smriti Irani said the "remaining 100 cases are at an active stage of investigation and redressal."
In a reply to another question, she said that under the joint initiative of Department of Science and Technology (DST) and HRD, 23 proposals from higher education institutions have been approved related to research parks, Technology Business Incubators and Startup Centres.
The minister said that 201 villages have been identified for developmental intervention by institutions of higher education under Unnar Bharat Abhiyan.
