'1.83% workers in 15-59 age group has received/receiving

Less than 2 per cent of workers in the age group of 15-59 years in rural India has received formal vocational training, Parliament was informed today.
"..Only 1.83 per cent of workers in the age group of 15-59 years in rural India has received/ was receiving formal vocational training," Minister of State for Rural Development Ram Kripal Yadav said in a written reply in Lok Sabha.
Yadav added that it is estimated that a total of 128.25 million workforce in farm sector are either unskilled or require skilling.
The Minister also informed the House that his ministry Deendayal Upadhayaya Grameen Kaushal Yojana (DDU-GKY) aims to skill youth who are poor and provide them with jobs having regular monthly wages at or above minimum monthly wages.

This scheme provides for a market-led, placement-linked training programme for rural youth, mandatory assured placement to 70 per cent of trained candidates.
The government has 809 training centres under DDU-GKY in 19 states across the country and also also has set an target of training 10.5 lakh youth in the 12th plan period (2012-2017).
