10-day cycling expedition covered 412 kms in Kishtwar belt:

A dozen Army personnel completed a cycling expedition named 'Chenab Parikarma' today covering 412 kilometres in 10 days in the Jammu region, a defence spokesman said.
The team comprising an officer, a junior commissioned officer (JCO) and 10 jawans was flagged in by the commander nine sector Rashtriya Rifles at Kishtwar, marking the culmination of the expedition, the spokesman said.
The expedition was organised to spread the message of peace, solidarity, oneness and the indomitable spirit of the soldiers of Indian Army, he said.
The expedition also aimed to inculcate the spirit of adventure and spread awareness amongst the masses about the 'Olive Green', the spokesman said.
He said the route for the expedition was from Dharmund to Kishtwar via Padri Gali, Gulabgarh and Sansari.
"This expedition traversed across one of the most treacherous motorable roads of the country," he said.
The spokesman said the expedition was essential for tenacity, fitness and comradeship of the soldiers.
"It also gave exposure to the soldiers in facing new challenges in life, giving a boost to their morale and imbibed in them team spirit.
"This mission, with an aim to propagate and strengthen national integration, peace and harmony was symbolic of adventure, courage and fortitude of Army soldiers," the spokesman said.
