The incident took place at Monihari village where a fair was being held, district superintendent of police Mukesh Kumar said.
Ten persons were injured in the clash and they have been admitted to the Sammilani Medical College hospital.
BJP state unit vice president Subhas Sarcar claimed that the ten persons injured belonged to his party and alleged they were attacked by ruling TMC members.
Local TMC leader Arup Chakravarty alleged that the persons injured were anti-social elements who had recently joined the BJP from the CPI(M) and they were hurt in a clash with the locals.
