The 10-year-old girl was allegedly raped when she was at home with her brother this morning, police said.
Neighbors rushed to the house after hearing screams and found the girl lying in a pool of blood.
The girl's mother then pointed out that her 14-year-old son was missing. Following which, the locals searched the nearby jungles and found him seriously injured.
He was rushed to the Gauhati Medical College Hospital in a critical condition.
Initial probe suggested the girl was raped and then hacked to death with a machete, police said.
