10-year-old raped

A ten-year-old girl was allegedly
raped in Lavakheda Badriprasad village under Nawabganj police station area here, police said today.
The incident happened yesterday when the victim, sleeping outside her house, was picked up by a masked man who took her to the jungles outside the village and raped her, they said.
Though the villagers started searching for the victim after hearing her cries they could not trace her at night and the incident came to light only after she returned home in the morning, they said.
The six-year-old sister of the victim, who had followed her while she was being taken was made to sit nearby and witness the crime.

A case has been registered in this connection and efforts are on to trace the accused, police said, adding that the medical examination was being conducted in the district hospital.
