12 rehabilitated in a city College

As many as 12 persons, including six women, who were begging for their livelihood on roadside, were today appointed in a private college in the city after being properly trained to carry out unskilled labour, as part of the administration's rehabilitation programme.
During a drive against begging, the city corporation has rescued some persons and rehabilitated at its Centre in R S Puram, of which 12 persons were given training in unskilled labour by an NGO, Reformers to Save India.
The 12 identified for training were subjected to medical assistance and counselling to come out from their stigma during the rehabilitation, they said.

After completion of seven day's training, they were appointed as unskilled labourers, for cleaning and maintaining the premises in Sri Krishna College, official sources said.
The orders to this effect were handed over by the District Collector, Archana Patnaik, in the presence of Prof Alagirisamy, Manager, HRD, Sri Krishna Group of Institutions, to eke a decent livelihood, they said.
