A polio patient was among 13 child labourers rescued today during raids at shoe factories in Mundka area here, police said.
Three factory employees were also held in this connection.
The rescue operation in Mundka area by the district level task force on child labour was carried out after a complaint lodged by NGO Bachpan Bachao Andolan (BBA).
"The minor boys, aged between 12 and 17, were found making sandals and school shoes. The victims said they worked for 12-15 hours a day for meagre amounts of money or nothing at all," a police official said.
One of the rescued victims, a resident of Darbanga district in Bihar, is afflicted with polio in both legs.
BBA Chairperson, R S Chaurasia said it is very unfortunate that these boys were making school shoes while they should be the ones wearing them.
He said there is still a large number of child labourers in Delhi, but the government is not acting tough to stop child trafficking and exploitation of these children.
All the rescued children were sent to the Mukti Ashram rehabilitation home on directions of the Child Welfare Committee.
