Gogoi, along with five more KMSS activists, were arrested on March 2 and sent to police remand for four days on the charge of abetment to suicide and criminal conspiracy for Pranab Boro's self-immolation on February 24 in front of the Assam Secretariat.
"We had sought five days' remand this time. However, the CJM Court gave us one day's custody of Gogoi and two others," Guwahati Senior Superintendent of Police Anand Prakash Tiwari told PTI here.
KMSS activist Boro poured petrol on his body and set himself afire demanding land rights to people living in the hill areas in Guwahati, just a day before Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi's two-day visit to Assam.
Gogoi was arrested last week along with five other KMSS members. After Gogoi's arrest, KMSS members hit the roads across the state to demand his release.
