Haryana government today said that 15 colleges of Male Multi Purpose Health Worker (MPHW) approved by previous Congress regime in the state would be investigated.
Stating this Health Minister Anil Vij Vij claimed that the Congress government had approved the MPHW before the enforcement of Model Code of Conduct in the state last year owing to assembly elections in October.
"Those who were close to the powers in the previous government had given Letter of Intent (LOI) to the Department in the month of August-September for opening MPHW colleges," Vij said.
He said that the present BJP government in the State had got inspection of college buildings and other basic facilities conducted and allegedly found various irregularities, "but the then Congress Government had, by sidelining the facts, issued Letter of Permission (LOP) to more than 15 such colleges in the month of August-September last year."
Vij, according to an official release here today, said that the admission process was scheduled to be started in these colleges in 2015.
"Therefore, these colleges approached the present government for approval to carry out admissions, but it could not be possible due to the irregularities found in their functioning.
"Upset with this, the governing bodies of the colleges approached the High Court, but they only got disappointment as the court recently ordered that these colleges be got again inspected," he stated.
