An attestation parade was held at Ranikhet's Maj Somnath Sharma grounds today for 155 new recruits passing out from the Kumaon & Naga Regimental Centre.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat asked them to put in the same hard work for serving the country as they did during their training.
Mentioning his father Pratap Singh Rawat, a decorated World War-II veteran, Rawat said he was aware of the glorious traditions of the Indian Army and it filled his heart with great pride to see the youth of the state stepping forward in the service of the nation.
Soldiers from Uttarakhand also known as 'Devbhoomi' have made the state as well as the country proud by their bravery and sacrifices, he said.
The chief minister hoped that the newly-recruited jawans will maintain the great traditions of the Army.
Out of the 155 jawans, 67 are from Uttarakhand and the rest from other states like Maharasthra, Bihar, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan.
The chief minister also honoured recruits who did well during their training.
