Kashmiri pandits observed a "black day" today and held demonstration and dharna at various places, including in the front of Raj Bhawan, here.
The Jammu and Kashmir government observes July 13 as Martyr's day, but the protestors said that it reminds of an infamous episode of large scale arson, loot and sectarian carnage against minority Hindus in Kashmir when 21 rebels who rose against the Maharaja's (Dogra) rule were killed by the police for restoring law and order.
Seventeen organisations of displaced Kashmiri Pandits and political parties including All State Kashmir Pandit Conference (ASKPC), Panun Kashmir, All Party Migrant Coordination Committee (APMCC), All India Kashmiri Samaj (AIKS), Youth All India Kashmiri Samaj (YAIKS), All India Kashmiri Pandit Conference (AIKPC), BJP, Jammu and Kahsmir National Panthers party (JKNPP) observed July 13 as black day and held protests demonstrations at various places.
