Meenakshi, an orphan, was found hanging in the restroom of the orphanage in Talwa Mandi in Cooperganj here yesterday, a police spokesman said, adding that she had left a suicide note in which she has not named anyone responsible for her act.
Meenakshi was brought to the orphanage on February 26, 2009, and had been staying here ever since.
Sources said she was upset over the fact that she had turned 18 and was to be sent to a women's home, against her wish.
District Magistrate, Roshan Jacob has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident, and police was questioning other girls and staff of the orphanage, he said.
