"During the scrutiny of papers of 209 candidates who had filed affidavits for the second phase of assembly elections, nominations of 183 candidates were found eligible whereas the nominations of 26 candidates were rejected," an official of the state election office said.
He said that the scrutiny was held at the offices of the Returning officers of their respective constituencies.
In Karnah constituency, eight nominations were accepted, whereas in Kupwara Assembly constituency, nomination papers of 12 candidates were accepted and in Lolab nine, Handwara 12, Langate 12, Noorabad 16, Kulgam eight, Humshali Bugh eight, Devsar eight, Gulabgarh eight, Reasi 14, Gool Arnas 10, Udhampur 10, Chenani seven, Ramnagar seven, Surankote 10, Mendhar 13, Haveli 11.
