2,464 constructions coming in way of Metro III project: MMRCL

The project affected people (PAP) of the proposed Metro III line are planned to be rehabilitated to Chakala, Oshiwara, Kurla, Vidyavihar and Wadala, the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRCL) has said in reply to an RTI query.
The MMRCL also said that total 2,464 constructions are coming in the way of the ambitious Metro III project and 241 different constructions at Mahim and other places will be completely demolished.
MMRCL gave this information in response to an RTI application recently filed by activist Anil Galgali on the Colaba-Bandra-Seepz Metro III line project.
"There are 24 spots between Cuffe Parade to Aarey Colony and 241 buildings at Naya Nagar, Mahim that are coming in the way of this project. Out of the other 2,223 buildings, 1,544 are residential, 576 commercial, 31 buildings residential-cum-commercial and 72 other constructions that need be acted against," it said.
MMRCL said that slum-dwellers occupying public places will be shifted to Bhakti Park, Wadala and Wonderland at Oshiwara in the MMRDA buildings.
These buildings have flats admeasuring 225 sq ft. Also M/s HDIL has started the work of construction of houses under the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA).
Under this project, constructions are going on in full swing near Kurla Premier (West) and Kurla (East) and at Chakala near Andheri and houses admeasuring 269 sq ft will be made available.
