Two 12-year-old boys Monday died after falling into a rainwater-filled pit in Titwala area of Thane district, an official said.

The incident happened around 4:30pm in Manda area and the bodies of Piyush Pathak and Mayank Sharma were brought out by local fishermen, he said.

"The two were playing near Shelar chawl," he said.

In another incident in Turbhe in neighbouring Navi Mumbai, heavy rains washed away some shanties, an official said, adding that no casualties were reported.
