2 children drown in pond being dug under NREGS

: Two boys, aged three and four, drowned in a pond being dug under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme at a village near Vedaranyam in the district, police said.
The pond was filled to the brim with rain water.
Police said the boys were playing at the seashore at Vellapallam coastal village last evening. When they did not return home, locals began searching for them and found their bodies floating in the pond last night
The bodies were late recovered, police said.
