Two girl students died on Friday after being bitten by a snake in a government-run school in Jashpur district in Chhattisgarh, an official said.
Payal and Parvati, both 10 studying in Class III of the primary school in Tatkela village of Bagicha development block, were bit during lunch break, M R Yadav, Block Education Officer (BEO) said.
"Payal died during treatment at the primary health centre in Bagicha. Parvati succumbed while being shifted to a hospital in Ambikapur town in neighbouring Surguja district," he said.
"School headmaster Hatkeshwar Yadav and teacher Anupama Tirki have been suspended. Yadav was absent from duty without informing anyone, while Tirki allegedly committed delay in shifting the girls to hospital," Yadav said.
