2 policemen killed in explosion in Egypt's Sinai

Two policemen, including an officer and a conscript, were killed in an explosion in the restive North Sinai governorate of eastern Egypt.
Unidentified attackers had planted an explosive device in their truck which was on the Arish-Qantara road in western area of Al-Arish, security sources said yesterday.
Security forces rushed to the place of the incident for investigations, they said.
North Sinai has witnessed many violent attacks by militants since January 2011 revolution that toppled ex-president Hosni Mubarak.
Militant attacks targeting police and military increased after the ouster of Islamist ex-president Mohamed Morsi last year.
Over 500 security personnel have been reportedly killed since then.

Egypt has declared a three-month emergency and curfew was clamped in different parts of Sinai following two terror attacks that left at least 31 Egyptian soldiers dead last month.
The military has launched security campaigns in the area, arrested suspects and demolished houses that belonged to terrorists, including those facilitating tunnels leading to the Gaza Strip.
