Body of a 35-year-old man, who appears to be mentally challanged, was swept away by the flooded waters of Ghadawali river under NH 27 bridge yesterday as the police was trying to rescue him with a rope, SHO Ram Kishan Yadav said.
He was advised to stay away from the overflowing river but instead of following the advice, he climbed down and was trapped, the SHO added.
His body was recovered from the riverside in Kunda village and his identity is yet to be ascertained, he said.
The search and rescue operation for the missing is underway, he said.
