The deceased was identified as 12-year-old Simran, they added.
A Sudhanshu Public School van was hit by a speeding truck on the Bareilly-Nainital road while a jeep coming from the other side dashed into a tree trying to avoid running into the van, the police said.
Two students in the van and five others in the jeep were injured and admitted to hospital, they said.
