"Twenty one places including Srinagar, Pahalgam, Anantnag, Kishtwar, Rajouri and Kathua have been identified for the cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants like Mint, Lavender, Rose and etc," Director Indian Institute of Integrated Medicines (IIIM), Dr Ram Vishwakarma said in his presentation to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah here today.
Vishwakarma said that bio-pharma sector is the fast growing segments in India and possesses rich potential of development in Jammu and Kashmir.
He said aroma products from the state can have global market share.
He said approval for these has been received last month and order has been placed with Bio-Tech Consortium India Limited for making DPR within three months.
A project for captive cultivation of selected medicinal and aroma plants have also been submitted to the Union Ministry of Health for approval, he added.
