27-yr-old youth held for fatal attack on bizman at Shankar mkt

A 27-year-old youth has been held for allegedly being involved in the brutal attack on a businessman at Connaught Place on Tuesday night who succumbed to his injuries after being battered with a helmet by the assailants.
According to police, Sunny Saiman was arrested following a tip-off from Surajmal Park in Vivek Vihar.
He is alleged to be involved in the attack on 44-year-old businessman Biju Verghese at Shankar Market.
Three other suspects in the case -- identified as Saurav, Satish and Babu -- are yet to be arrested, police added.
Verghese was attacked on May 19 night in front of his courier agency at Shankar Market. On the basis of the statement of an eyewitness, John Ming, a case of murder was lodged in this connection at Barakhamba Road police station.

Police said that Saiman, upon sustained interrogation, confessed that on May 19, a quarrel had broken out between the deceased and himself and his three associates following which they beat him up.

Saimon, police said, hit the deceased with a helmet.
Verghese hailed from Kerala and was running his business for two decades, police said.
The incident took place at around 11:30 P.M. On Wednesday night when some 3-4 people turned up at the shop and started a heated exchange with Verghese, police said.
One of the men soon started hitting Verghese on the head with a helmet till he began to bleed and collapsed on the road. When a couple of Verghese's staffers tried to come to his aid, the attackers threatened them into backing away.

Following the attack, Verghese was rushed to Ram Manohar Lohia hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
