As many as 1,82,037 people in 2014-15 and 1,55,360 people in 2015-16 (till January 31) were imparted skill training under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana National Urban Livelihood Mission, Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said during Question Hour.
Naidu said 5.31 crore people under the below poverty line reported in urban areas in 2011-12.
The initiative has been taken to reduce poverty and vulnerability of urban poor households by enabling them to access gainful self employment and skilled wage employment opportunities for improvement in their livelihood on a sustainable basis, he said.
As many as 47,772 self help groups were formed in 2014-15 and 42,587 in 2015-16, he said.
