Three men were arrested for allegedly thrashing a 36-year-old constructor to death over a monetary dispute in west Delhi's Madipur, police said Monday.

The deceased was identified as Nitin while the accused were Jagdish Sharma alias Jaggi (49), Sanjeev alias Babbu (47) and Rajeev alias Billa (37) from Paschim Puri in New Delhi, police said.

On Sunday, police received a call from Balaji Action Hospital which informed that a person with bruises all over his body was rushed to the hospital but was declared brought dead, said Monika Bharadwaj, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (West).

During investigation, the mobile phone of the deceased was scanned and through technical help, three persons were arrested who later confessed to the crime, the DCP said.

They disclosed that Jagdish had to take Rs 12.5 lakh from the victim. He called Nitin to his office and the three accused beat him up with a stick. They forcibly took Nitin's scooter and got his signatures on the papers to sell the scooter, Bharadwaj said.

Nitin was allowed to go home after three hours. He was having bruises over the body and was taken to the hospital by his family, where he was declared brought dead, the police official said.

Nitin's scooter and papers were recovered from the possession of the accused, the DCP said.
