3 held for beating man to death for protesting harassment of

Three persons were arrested today in connection with the recent death of a 52-year-old man who was allegedly beaten up by the trio when he questioned them for harassing his daughter in Chavakkad near here.
According to police, there was a minor scuffle between the deceased V Ramesh and the trio, following which he fell unconscious and died at a hospital due to cardiac arrest on Wednesday night.
The accused, all neighbours of Ramesh, had been absconding since the incident and they were taken into custody by a special team from Malappuram, Chavakkad Circle Inspector A J Johnson said.
He said the arrested, hailing from Palayoor near here, had allegedly made some remarks when Ramesh was riding a bike along with his son and daughter, which led to the scuffle.

The officer also said Ramesh was a heart patient and had been taking medicines for the last 19 years.
The post mortem report also said that coronary artery disease was the cause of the death, he said.
