Balkar Singh, Balwinder Singh, and Satinder Singh Rawat, arrested in a joint operation by the Punjab and Madhya Pradesh police forces, were wanted in connection with seizure of a huge cache of arms from the Indo-Pak border on May 21 this year. It was sent by Rode, a Punjab police spokesperson said.
The trio had allegedly been supplying weapons to militants in Punjab and were being funded from abroad, the spokesperson said, adding the names of these three persons, who are presently residing in Gwalior, had emerged during the ongoing investigations into the May 21 arms seizure case.
A huge cache of arms, including an AK-47 assault rifle, five hand grenades, a modified machine-pistol, five pistols and over 450 rounds of live ammunition of different calibres, near the Indo-Pak border in Amritsar.
According to the police spokesperson, the arrested trio has links with Brampton (Canada)-based Gurjeet Singh Cheema, a former resident of Jogi Cheema village in Gurdaspur district, whose name had also figured arms seizure case.
The spokesperson said Cheema, who had come to India from Canada earlier this year, had travelled to Gwalior, along with Maan Singh and one other, to collect the pistols, which they intended to be used in Punjab to carry out attacks on "anti- panthic forces and individuals".
