Three
activists of the People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI) carrying varying rewards on their heads today surrendered in Simdega, while two Maoists were arrested in Dumka district of the state.
In Simdega, self-styled sub-zonal commander Mahesh Singh, self-styled area commander Seon Topno and firing squad member Purna Manjhi surrendered with weapons before Deputy Inspector General of Police R K Dhan.
While Singh carried a reward of Rs five lakh on his head, Topno and Manjhi carried Rs two lakh and Rs one lakh respectively, the DIG said.
A Dumka report quoting Superintendent of Police Prabhat Kumar said the Dumka police arrested two Maoists at Amjhari More under Kathikund police station on Dumka-Sahibganj path yesterday, following a tip-off.
The two rebels were identified as Dinesh Kumar Mandal (20), who hailed from Giridih district's Parvatraidih under Deori police station, and Ravindra Kumar Mandal alias Disco (31), who hailed from Dumka district's Dahujore under Ramgarh police station, the SP said today.
The police recovered Rs four lakh, Maoist literature, one motor-cycle and three mobile phones from their possession, the SP said.
Dinesh is the cousin of hardcore Maoist Jagdish'da, active in Dumka-Godda areas and hails from Giridih district's Margodih area.
The SP said the money was extorted from contractors engaged in development works in areas of Dumka and Godda districts and was to be sent to Jagdish'da.
