V K Gupta, who was earlier Secretary to the Railway Board, has taken over as the new GM of Northern Railway, while Alok Johri has assumed charge as the GM of neighbouring North Central Railway.
Likewise, R S Virdi has taken over as the new GM of the Northeast Frontier Railway, said a railway official, adding they assumed office yesterday.
The officer said R C Jat, who was chief of stores, RCF Kapurthala, will take over as the new secretary of the Railway Board.
Johri was the chief administrative officer of Rai Bareli Coach Factory and Virdi was the chief mechanical engineer of North East Frontier Railway.
The filling up of the key posts assumes significance and comes at a time when the Railway is in the midst of strengthening safety measures across its network.
