Delhi Police have arrested four persons allegedly involved in the loot of Rs 40 lakh in Khari Baoli area yesterday and recovered the entire amount.
Bajrangi and Mohit, two employees of Jitendra Bansal, a grocer, were looted when they were going to deposit Rs 40 lakh in a bank near Fatehpuri yesterday afternoon, said a senior police officer.
The duo told police that a man collided with Bajrangi who was carrying the bag containing Rs 40 lakh and picked up a quarrel. Meanwhile, two more men joined in and forced Bajrangi to part with the bag by threatening him with a gun.
After the robbers fled with the money, the duo informed Bansal and police. An FIR was registered in connection with the loot at Lahori Gate police station and investigation was launched, the police officer said.
Police analysed footage of a CCTV camera installed near the spot. They found some anomalies in Mohit's statements and also he was seen a few paces behind Bajrangi when the incident of loot took place.
After grilling Mohit and gathering information from other sources, police teams were formed and rushed to Chandigarh where it was found that the robbers had headed towards Haryana.
From Samlakha in Haryana, police arrested Ratan Lal and recovered Rs 40 lakh from his house. Two other robbers -- Pravin and Hariom -- were arrested in separate raids, the officer said.
Mohit was also arrested by the police under charges of passing off the information to the robbers, he added.
