4 in fray for 3 RS seats from Telangana; Polling on Mar 23
Polling will take place here on March 23 to fill three Rajya Sabha vacancies from Telangana as four candidates are left in the fray at the end of withdrawal of nominations today.
J Santosh Kumar, B Lingaiah Yadav and B Prakash of ruling Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) and P Balaram of Congress were the candidates in the fray, official sources said.
The nomination of Jajula Bhaskar (no party affiliation) had been rejected during scrutiny.
The TRS is expected to win the three seats as the AIMIM has announced support to the ruling party.
In the 119-member state Assembly, the current party-wise strength is: TRS-82, INC-19, AIMIM-7, BJP-5, TDP-3, Independent-1, CPI(M)-1 and CPI-1.
