Four people were killed and three others injured when a speeding car knocked down two pedestrians and rammed into a goods carrier before flipping onto its side in nearby Tirupur district early today, police said.
The incident occurred when the occupants of the car were returning from Gobichettipalayam in Erode district after attending a marriage, they said.
Under the impact of the collision, the car flipped on its side, killing two occupants on the spot while the driver and another person died on the way to hospital, they said.
Three others including two pedestrians who sustained injuries have been hospitalised, they added.
