Around 1.30 am, the front portion of a bus carrying 45 people, who were coming from Faridabad after attending a wedding, caught fire. The bus was going towards Jaitpur, they said.
As the bus caught fire, its doors got locked and the passengers got trapped inside, police said.
The driver jumped out of the bus and it hit a divider, they said.
A team from the Pul Prahladpur police station which was patrolling the area, border toll staff and some local residents rushed and rescued all passengers from the bus by breaking its window panes, said Chinmoy Biswal, Deputy Commissioner of Police (southeast).
Two fire tenders later reached the spot and doused the flames.
