Five persons of the Indian-origin Madhesi political parties agitating against Nepal's new Constitution were injured today while trying to set ablaze a motorcycle carrying petrol, according to police.
The injured were trying to set ablaze the bike which was bringing petrol from Raxaul at Friendship Bridge at Nepal- India border, Superintendent of Police Raj Babu Shrestha said.
In a separate incident, protesting Madesis torched another bike in Lahan-Thadi road section that was used for transporting an LPG gas cylinder today. Following the incident, enraged locals of Haripur area reached the site and thrashed two of the agitators.
Meanwhile, three gas bullets lined up in Raxaual town in India near Nepal-India border waiting for clearance have leaked gas causing danger of being exploded, according to a local television channel of Nepal.
The gas bullets have developed leakage as they were stranded on the road exposed to the scorching heat for more than two months.
Nepalese and Indian security personnel were working to patch up the leaked gas bullet, according to the television channel.
Nepal Gas Dealers Association warned last month that hundreds of gas bullets stranded in Raxaul may cause accident any time as they were exposed to sun and rain.
There are some 170 gas bullets waiting for clearance from Indian customs and security personnel for entering into Nepal.
