Sugar mill worker killed in boiler explosion

A 45-year-old contract employee of Batala Cooperative sugar mill here was killed today in a boiler explosion on the first day of the crushing season.
Baldev Raj, a contract employee in the mill for the last eight years, put on water testing duty was killed when the boiler exploded, police said.
The crushing season of the Batala Cooperative Sugar mill started today in presence of Sukhbir Singh Wahla the Chairman of Sugarfed and former Punjab agriculture minister Sucha Singh Langha.
The body has been sent for postmortem, police said.
