Six persons have been detained in connection with the murder of gangster Manjeet Mahal's father, who was shot dead outside his home yesterday in Mitraon village, police said today.
To prevent any untoward incident, police carried out a threat assessment of the area and alerted other units of police to keep a watch on activities of other criminals out on bail.
Police are suspecting that members of Jyoti Nandu gang are involved in the killing.
Mahal and his associate Nafe had gunned down Sunil, the brother-in-law of Jyoti Nandu.
"Six persons have been detained in connection with the Shrikrishan's murder. It was in retaliation to Sunil's murder in December 2015.
"Manjeet was allegedly involved in Sunil's murder. We are going through facts and details gathered during probe," said a senior police official.
