primary schools in Tripura were taken ill today after being administered a drug to remove tapeworms, official sources said.
Forty students of Chandrapur class twelve school, who were administered the albendazole doses yesterday, fell sick in the school and were admitted to Dharmanagar Hospital in North Tripura district, Subdivisional Magistrate (SDM), Shankar Debnath said.
The condition of two students was stated to be critical.
Chief Medical Officer, North Tripura district, Shankar Das, said that an investigation was ordered and the samples of albendazole drugs, water and food distributed in mid-day meal programme were being examined.
They are stated to be out of danger.
