Slamming Aamir Khan for his remarks on intolerance, Maharashtra Revenue Minister Eknath Khadse today said the superstar's comments were part of "conspiracy" to defame the government.
"The statement made by Aamir Khan is a conspiracy to defame the government, which will not be tolerated," Khadse said while speaking at a book release function here today.
"When the country gave fame and money, nobody saw your religion and caste," the BJP minister said.
Referring to some "unfortunate" incidents in other states, Khadse said, "Not a single word is being said or raised in those states, where the alleged incidents took place, but a controversy is being created in Maharashtra and this is a clear attempt to defame the BJP government."
"There were protests over the unfortunate incidents from various quarters and we also condemn them. But it is wrong to say that the entire country has become intolerant," Khadse added.
