A group of AAP leaders today met Lt Governor Najeeb Jung and sought his intervention in the issue of the alleged attempt to "mow down" the party's Delhi unit chief Dilip Pandey by a vehicle belonging to the city police, which it claimed is working as a "weapon" of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
"We met the LG today and briefed him about the yesterday's incident. A CD in that connection carrying the footage showing a police van trying to crush Dilip and party workers, was submitted to him, along with a letter," AAP leader Sanjay Singh told reporters after the meeting.
"We raised our concern that on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's directive, Delhi Police is harassing and arresting AAP leaders and workers, sending them to jail and attacking them," he alleged.
"These are matters of concern, we have been assured by the LG that he will raise this with the city police Commissioner and he will do, whatever, he can in accordance with the law," Singh said.
Pandey yesterday alleged that a Delhi police bus tried to run him over outside the Rajinder Nagar police station last night where protesting AAP volunteers were detained.
The party has also claimed that five of its volunteers, who were protesting outside Anand Parbat Police Station, over the alleged laxity by the force in the murder of a 19-year-old girl and later detained, are missing since last evening.
"The same formula of Modiji used to work in Gujarat of getting the opponents killed and removing them from his way, registering fake cases against them...The same is happening in Delhi. It also happened in Vyapam in MP. In Delhi, police is working as Modi's weapon and is working on his directions," Singh alleged.
Singh was accompanied by Pandey and party leaders Ashutosh.
"We are going to meet police commissioner BS Bassi in the evening today," he added.
