AAP woman worker's suicide:BJP demands FIR against AAP leaders

Taking its attack on Aam Aadmi Party over the recent suicide of its woman worker to the President, BJP has demanded that a case of abatement to suicide be registered against the AAP leaders whose "conduct" drove her to end her life.
The AAP woman worker had consumed poisonous substance at her home in north west Delhi's Narela and died during treatment at LNJP Hospital on July 19.
Several woman MPs of the saffron party met President Pranab Mukherjee and submitted to him a memorandum in which they alleged that the AAP worker was threatened with "dire consequences" when she had gone to meet Delhi Chief Minister Arvin Kejriwal and he and other AAP leaders "forced" her to have the matter compromised.

Prior to her death, she had registered a case of molestation against the AAP worker (Ramesh Bhardwaj), BJP said in a statement.
"The situation today demands that an FIR in the matter be registered. Her husband's statement and the case be investigated thoroughly so as to draw the correct sequence of events and fix the responsibility on the people concerned," the memorandum signed by Meenkashi Lekhi, MP from New Delhi, said.
"We fail to understand the lackadaisical approach of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal who failed to check the wrong deeds of his party members. He has failed to verify and disclose as to who and on whose behalf the main accused was putting pressure on her. All these events and conduct of the political worker of AAP party led to her suicide," it said.

A delegation of over 17 woman BJP MPs besides its Lok Sabha members from Delhi met the President last night in this regard.

Yesterday, Ramesh Bhardwaj, the accused in the AAP woman activist suicide case was arrested from Sonipat in Haryana.
The 28-year-old woman had filed a complaint against Bhardwaj for allegedly touching her inappropriately and a case of molestation was registered in June.
The family members of the woman had claimed that she had gone into depression after Bhardwaj was released on bail.
The woman in a video recording had also levelled serious allegations against Bhardwaj accusing him of pressuring her to "compromise" if she wanted to rise in the AAP and claimed himself to be "close to the local party MLA".

Yesterday, Leader of Opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta accompanied by daughters and husband of the deceased met the National Commission for Women chairperson Lalitha Kumar Mangalam and requested her for a "high level" probe in the matter.
