Aasiya Indrabi's nephew remanded to police custody

A nephew of radical Kashmiri leader Aasiya Indrabi has been booked for attempt to murder and illegal possession of explosives after being arrested during a raid by security agencies in the Pakistani capital.
Mohammad Shoaib Indrabi was remanded to police custody for three days by the court of magistrate Inamullah Khan in Islamabad yesterday.
He was booked under sections 324 and 109 of the Pakistan Penal Code and sections 4 and 5 of the Explosive Act and sections 13, 20 and 65 of the Pakistan Arms Ordinance.
These sections relate to attempt to murder, abetment in crime, illegal possession of explosives and weapons, the Dawn newspaper reported today.

Police had sought Shoaib's custody for seven days. They informed the court that they had recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from Shoaib's possession and also expressed the suspicion that he belongs to a militant group.
"The custody of the accused person is necessary for investigation and to arrest his other accomplices," said an application submitted in court by police.

The judge remanded Shoaib to physical remand for three days and said he should be produced in court again on September 14.
Police covered Shoaib's face when he was brought to the district courts here yesterday afternoon after noticing the presence of media persons from Pakistani and Indian channels.

According to police, Shoaib's accomplices who escaped during the raid belong to Jammu and Kashmir.
Shoaib is the son of Zia Ul Haq, the brother of Dukhtaran-e-Millat chief Aasiya Indrabi. He was arrested when police and intelligence operatives raided a house in Sector G-15 on September 7.
Irtiyaz Gilani and Mujahid Gilani, the sons of Indrabi's sister, escaped from the house.
Pakistani security officials have told the media they suspect the men were planning "terrorist activity in collaboration with Al Qaeda and Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan".
