ABB India shares surge over 8 pc after earnings

Stocks of ABB India today rose sharply by over 8 per cent after the company reported 43.6 per cent rise in standalone net profit for the quarter ended December 31, 2014.
ABB India's scrip surged 7.39 per cent to settle at Rs 1,361.35 on the BSE. During the day, it jumped 9.47 per cent to Rs 1,387.70.
At the NSE, it soared 8.19 per cent to end at Rs 1,372.
Following the surge in the stock, the company's market valuation rose by Rs 1,986.15 crore to Rs 28,848.15 crore.
ABB India today reported 43.6 per cent rise in standalone net profit at Rs 84.16 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2014.
The company's net profit in the corresponding quarter of 2013 was Rs 58.59 crore, it said in a filing to BSE.
The company's total income from operations during the quarter was Rs 2,238.41 crore, over Rs 2,203.87 crore in the same quarter of 2013.
