Meganathan clinched the qualification spot by carding a nett score of 69.4 including a remarkable holein-one on Hole No.8 (Par 3).
He will compete in the national finals to be played at the Oxford Golf Resort in Pune from April 4 to 6.
"This is the first time that I am winning a trophy and I haven't been able to play regularly. I just wanted to hit the greens but the hole-in-one was a bonus," Meganathan, vice chairman of Rajalakshmi Engineering College here said.
The best Gross Winner of the day was Darshan Veera Raghavan with a round of 76.
Prominent winners included Chummar Verghese who won the Ballantine's Long Drive Challenge with a mammoth drive of 300 yards.
Venkatesh Sundar won the Mercedes-Benz Closest to Pin contest on hole no. 13 by landing the ball at 2 metre and 6 ft from the pin.
The format of play was Double Peoria, which adjusts handicaps of players to allow a level playing field for the competitors.
A total of 112 city golfers participated in the event, the release said.
