The ABVP today attacked the Himachal Pradesh government for allegedly putting the future of thousands of students in darkness by "hasty" implementation of RUSA.
The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), a student organisation affiliated to RSS, held an Aakrosh rally here against the state government.
ABVP national organisational secretary Sunil Ambedkar said the hasty implementation of Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA), especially the semester and choice-based credit system has created an atmosphere of anarchy, forcing the students to hit the streets.
He also attacked the state government for allegedly misleading the youth of the state by promising unemployment allowance on the eve of 2012 Assembly elections which has not been given till date.
Supporting the demand for direct elections to Students Central Association (SCA), ABVP national general Secretary Vinay Vidra called for a stringent mechanism to regulate the private institutes in the state.
He demanded increase in educational budget, change in old syllabus from elementary to higher education and a policy to fight drug menace near educational institutes.
The other demands of the students included construction of the campus of HP Central University, withdrawal of the fees hike by the HPU, filling of vacant posts of teachers in colleges.
