ACC, majority-owned by Swiss building material company Holcim, had posted a profit of Rs 251.24 crore in the corresponding quarter a year ago, it said in a BSE filing.
Total income from operations rose to Rs 2,792.52 crore from Rs 2,768.11 crore a year ago.
Total expenses went up to Rs 2,585.80 crore from Rs 2,518.69 crore a year earlier, primarily due to higher fuel and freight costs.
Other income fell to Rs 42.47 crore from 85.95 crore and finance costs declined to Rs 11.96 crore from Rs 27.15 crore.
In 2012, it had posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 1,059.28 crore on total income of Rs 11,358.19 crore.
