The Indian envoy to China today called for acceleration in the implementation of business-to- business agreements signed during the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the Communist nation nearly five months ago.
Indian Ambassador to China Ashok K Kantha said various agreements reached during the visit including the MoU between Guizhou International Investment Corporation (GIIC) and GMR Group of India for an industrial park in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, should be implemented at the earliest.
Taking part in a round-table discussion with Executive Vice Governor of Guizhou, Qin Rupei, Kantha suggested ideas for expanding Guizhou-India ties, which included making use of the industrial park to push for greater investments from Chinese enterprises, expanding sub-national engagement between Guizhou and Indian states and increasing high-level exchanges.
Other agreements signed during Modi's visit in May include an MoU between Infosys and Guizhou on building a China-India Information Service Industry Corridor, institutional agreement between CII and Guizhou to promote Indian firms' participation in IT projects and an MoU for cooperation between NIIT and Gui'an New Area.
India and China signed 24 agreements worth over USD 10 billion during the visit.
Vice Governor Qin called for making cooperation in industrial parks an important platform to expand engagement with India, as well as closer cooperation with other Indian states.
Kantha visited the headquarters of GIIC in Guiyang and heard a report on the work done by GIIC in establishing the industrial park in Kakinada SEZ, Andhra Pradesh, for hi-end Chinese equipment manufacturers, pursuant to the MoU signed between GIIC and GMR Group, a release by the Indian Embassy said today.
The ambassador also visited the Gui'an New Area.
He called for exploring opportunities for cooperation, including in big data, between Indian entities and Gui'an New Area.
Kantha was on a visit to the Guizhou from October 9 to 11.
