Assistant Commissioner of Police Amit Singh had suffered a fracture in his nose when three persons, including a juvenile and his mother attacked him when he tried to intervene in a fight between his driver and them as the car driven by the minor had hit Singh's official vehicle.
The trio was apprehended by the police after the attack while Singh was rushed to AIIMS Trauma Centre from where he was later shifted to AIIMS.
The 17-year-old juvenile has been sent to a remand home after he was produced before a Juvenile Justice Board. Rajni, the minor's mother and her live in partner Yogesh were arrested on charges of attempt to murder, assault, obstructing public servant in discharge of duty etc. Yogesh had prior criminal record as well.
Yogesh and Rajni were following the juvenile who was driving the Swift car on a motorcycle. They were returning home after meeting a relative in Nizamuddin area last evening when the incident took place.
Police said the accused couple own a business of tyres and are residents of south Delhi's Greater Kailash area. The minor boy was a student of class 11 and was Rajni's son from her first marriage. The mother-son duo had been living together since the last five years.
A Swift car, which was driven by the juvenile had hit Singh's Innova car around 4:30 PM near Lodhi crematorium following which his driver had a verbal altercation with the minor.
Amid the verbal duel, a Yogesh and a Rajni on a bike arrived at the spot and started hitting the driver. When Singh tried to intervene, the man hit him on his head with the helmet from behind first and then punched him on his face several times, police said.
