The ADGP was earlier directed to appear in the court on September 30 as there was no progress in the investigation in the case. But, he did not turn up then and appeared today.
21-year old Vivetha's father had filed a habeas corpus petition seeking a direction to police to produce her.
When the matter came up today, the ADGP appeared before the court. Justices V Dhanabalan and M Duraiswamy gave six weeks' times to trace the girl and the alleged kidnapper, V Ashok, and posted the case for hearing after six weeks, accepting a CB-CID plea.
The case was transferred to the CBCID on April 19 last by the high court.
The petitioner alleged that Ashok of Pattukottai on November 25 last year kidnapped his daughter along with 110 sovereign jewels with an intention of marrying her.
